Another Baby Shower!

Kat has a wonderful group of friends from her church who treated her to an afternoon of fun, good wishes, and baby gifts to add to her nursery. Courtney was the hostess. Others at the shower were Jasmine, Joanna, Carrie, Sarah, Erika, Lindsey, Jen, Naomi, Kathleen, and Shara. Little ones Palin and Gabe were there as well. What a lovely day! I was blessed to be invited to meet Kat's friends and share in the festivities. Here are a few photos from the day.

House Hunting

The Blue Birds came by both bird houses this morning. Papa bird sat on the roof of the house outside my kitchen window for awhile and checked out the area. Then momma bird arrived and Papa went into the house while she sat on the roof. After a few minutes, he came out, and she went in to check it out. Finally they both flew off. A little later we saw a couple of blue birds checking out the box in the back of the yard in quite the same manner. I do hope they decide to move in!

Blue Bird Boxes

After mending a few loose shingles on the roof and preparing the porch furniture for summer weather, Rich finished my blue bird boxes by installing them in the yard. The sun was setting as he dug the holes and installed the blue bird houses. They are finally ready for occupancy!

A Baby Shower!

Kat’s mother-in-law Beth and I had the fun of throwing a baby shower for Kat and Jason on Saturday, March 14. Rich catered the event and Beth furnished a cake. I was in charge of activities. Here are some scenes from the festivities.

The Ohio and PA Mitchell girls joined us, along with dear friend, Bev.

Laurel’s invitation made another appearance--on the cake!

Bev’s basket held everything needed to feed the baby those early foods
including the travel booster seat and the food.

Our beloved friend Peg has known Kat since Kat was five years old.
She has helped shape who Kat is today and was there to share in the festivities.

Laurel sent a “Baby in Sight” mirror to monitor the little one in the car.
Jason’s grandma June and other guests made beautiful blankets for the baby.
Sharon sent baby a Boston Red Sox (for Jason's benefit) onesie and pants .

Barbara was one of many who brought books to start the baby’s library.
Beth is beaming with the excitement of her first grand child.

Kat and Jason’s paternal Grandmother.

Rich catered chicken and egg salad sandwiches, Chicken Scallion Spring Rolls, Green Chile Chicken and Queso Empanadas, Shrimp Charmoula, and Dried Date Souvlaki for a wonderful selection of delicacies for the luncheon.

Spring is on its way!

Rich took this photo of the Great Eastern Coyote that comes
around now and then. He was out in the field
in the snow, so the photo is a bit blurry.

Spring is on its way. This cardinal visits our bird feeder regularly!

My handsome son-in-law, Jason, is graduating from engineering school
at Penn State in May - we are so proud of him!

Kat and Jason and baby - due the first of June.
Our second grandson - can't wait!!

Join us if you can for Kat's baby shower on March 14, 2009.
Laurel designed these adorable invitations for the shower.
