We had a wonderful time with Laurel, Lars, Luke and Leah at Christmas in California. We were there from Dec. 22 until the 31st. It was a fabulous time of just being together.
We went to see the light display in a neighborhood near their church. Almost every house was decorated. It was like “Home Improvements” with Tim trying to outdo his neighbors. The displays were fabulous! Laurel took our picture in front of a CA Santa. Although he was in shorts, it was a cold evening for the rest of us.
Luke wanted us to see his park, so he rode his bike and the whole family went to play for awhile on a sunny, but cool day.
Christmas morning was great fun. The kids were so excited about all their presents. Rich was right in the middle of the fray – he adores Christmas (Bah! Humbug!).
We had a special gift from Sharon to open – a picture book of Carmella’s first year. Leah loved her new teapot from Sharon and Winnie the Pooh activity vehicle from Kat. Luke had so many presents he didn’t have time to absorb one before opening another. The days after Christmas were lots of fun as he explored each gift in its turn. More photos can be seen on Laurel's website: Where Our Treasures Are .

FIRST MORNING IN CALIFORNIA
When Rich set up his computer to catch up on e-mails from work, Luke ran to get his computer, too. They worked side by side for a long time. So precious!

The light displays were fantastic!
CA Santa standing by the side of the road - for pictures!
Lars and his princess.
Rich's job was to help get the toys out of the packaging -
which could be quite a challenge at times.
Leah was fascinated by her princess cell phone.
Rich in the middle of it all!
Susan enjoying the activity around the tree.
Leah with her new teapot from Aunt Sharon.
Before we left, Rich taught the kids to drum on Laurel's old bowl set using Luke's new hammers from the tool bench Grandma and Grandpa Eriksen gave him. I guess Rich wanted Laurel to remember that we had been there...

AT THE PARK
Leah, like her cousin Ella, just loves to swing. She and Grandma played on the swings while Luke and Grandpa explored other areas of the park.

Lars showed Luke how to run around the steps and then slide down the fireman's pole. He was quite good at it!
